Partner Action: Oppose Trump Attorney Emil Bove for Federal Court Judge
Trump has nominated Emil Bove, a criminal defense attorney in his hush money trial, to serve on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Bove, who was appointed acting deputy attorney general, has used the DOJ to retaliate against perceived enemies and protect allies.
He fired Jan. 6 prosecutors, threatened to purge the FBI, and dropped corruption charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams—actions that led several NY attorneys to resign, citing a possible quid pro quo. Reports show Bove directed DOJ officials to ignore court orders related to deportations, violating legal ethics.
Despite claiming to end DOJ weaponization, his actions suggest the opposite. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance his nomination, despite opposition from 900 former DOJ lawyers and concerns over his involvement in controversial cases, including Jeffrey Epstein’s.
