The U.S. Attorney for D.C. is a powerful federal position, but Trump’s first nominee, Ed Martin, lacked Senate support. Now, he has nominated Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a loyal Trump defender and conservative activist.
As a TV host, Pirro has downplayed Trump’s sexist and racist comments, questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 election, and supported Trump’s efforts to misuse the Justice Department against his enemies. Her loyalty even earned her ex-husband, convicted tax evader Albert Pirro, a pardon from Trump. Her appointment would further Trump’s goal of corrupting the justice system to serve his political and financial interests. Pirro was sworn in as interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. on May 14th and awaits Senate confirmation for a permanent role.

ICA and Partner Action: ICE Watch: Rapid Response Training for Allies 8/6
Indivisible Chicago invites you to a virtual ICE Watch Rapid Response training, conducted by Rey Wences, Senior Director of Deportation Defense at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). Event is hosted by the Indivisible Chicago Immigration Working Group.
This ICE Watch training will cover threats and potential impacts on vulnerable communities across the greater Chicagoland area and beyond, and will teach people how to properly identify ICE and what to do in the case that there is an ICE raid in neighboring communities, and how we as allies can take action in this moment. Topics will include "Know Your Rights" overview, advocacy at the state and city level, and ICE Watch/Rapid Response.
