Friday, August 1 - Protect America’s National Parks / Change Starts Here Panel 8/5 / Unite for Trans Youth Lives 8/10

Partner Action: Protect America’s National Parks

America's national parks are a treasured public resource, with 433 sites covering 85 million acres across the country. However, they're under threat from budget cuts and mismanagement. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has prioritized superficial improvements like clean restrooms and visitor centers over park safety and environmental protections.

The recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act slashed the National Park Service (NPS) budget, and House Republicans propose further cuts of $176 million in their 2026 appropriations bill. These cuts endanger parks, rangers, and the NPS itself.

Our national parks belong to all of us and deserve adequate funding to protect and preserve them for future generations.

👉 It's time to demand that Congress restore NPS funding and stop attacking our cherished national parks.

Script: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to restore the funding for our national parks and the National Park Service. Even after the drastic budget cuts in H.R. 1, House appropriators are now trying to cut even more money from our beloved national parks. Congress must provide the needed funding to protect and preserve our national parks for future generations.

Partner Action: Unite for Trans Youth Lives: Rally & Protest 8/10

From hospitals cutting off gender-affirming care to federal rollbacks of emergency mental health services, trans youth are being stripped of the right to exist, thrive, and access life-saving health care.

Illinois is a sanctuary state for transgender rights — yet major institutions are walking back care and leaving families in crisis. This is a state of emergency and we are fighting back against these attacks on gender affirming medical and mental health services.

This is a call to action. Show up. Speak out. Fight for trans futures!

👉 Join us on August 10th to demand:

  • Immediate restoration + expansion of gender-affirming care

  • Protection of 988 LGBTQ+ crisis services & The Trevor Project contract
