Friday, August 15 - Fight the Trump Takeover Rally TOMORROW / EPA's Repeal of Endangerment Finding / Rep. Mike Quigley speaks to Indivisible Chapter 8/28
ICA Action: TOMORROW - Stop the Trump Takeover
The outrageous Texas power grab by Donald Trump and his enablers is a political emergency with national implications. Through their brazen attempt to gerrymander 5 Congressional seats into the Republican column, they are undermining fair elections, silencing voters of color, and attacking our country's democratic foundations.
We need action everywhere because this will not stop in Texas. Illinois was one of the first states to stand up, showing that we are going to defend the vote, protect our rights, and oppose this anti-democratic power grab.
Come join us in downtown Chicago at Wrigley Square in Millennium Park, 201 E Randolph St., when we raise our voices with defenders of Democracy in cities across the nation on August 16 at 11:00 a.m.
Partner Action: Stop the EPA’s Repeal of the Endangerment Finding
On July 29th, Lee Zeldin, the EPA administrator, announced a proposal to repeal the 2009 “Endangerment Finding,” which is the legal and scientific basis for the government’s action on climate change. This finding, based on decades of scientific research, concluded that greenhouse gases threaten human health and welfare, enabling emissions regulation under the Clean Air Act.
Repealing the Endangerment Finding would strip the EPA of its authority to regulate fossil fuel emissions and other pollution sources. The EPA justifies the repeal using a report from the Energy Department that relies on climate science denial, cherry-picked data, and false citations, claiming greenhouse gases don’t contribute to climate change. This proposal must undergo a public comment period before finalization.

Script: I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to oppose the EPA’s plan to repeal the Endangerment Finding. That rule is a necessary legal foundation backed by decades of science and repealing it would unleash dangerous pollutants, create countless health hazards, and ruin our ability to combat climate change.
