Thursday, September 18 - Chicago Public Health and Safety Campaign / NWS Emergency Response Townhall 9/21 / Redistricting Deep Dive Virtual Panel 9/21

Partner Action: Chicago Public Health and Safety Campaign

The Public Health and Safety Campaign has put forth a budget proposal that would reallocate $200 million of the $300 million in the Chicago Police Department's overtime & vacancy fund to the Crisis Assistance and Response Program (CARE), to public mental health centers, to vital services at the Chicago Department of Public Health, to youth jobs, and to the Fire Department– programs that truly address public health and safety.

The Mayor will be making budget recommendations soon and then budget hearings will be held in City Council. That means the Public Health and Safety Campaign is ramping up its efforts to build support for the proposal.
