Monday, October 6 - No Federal Troops in Chicago! / ICA T-Shirt Design Contest (Due 10/15) / Chicago Budget Address Briefing 10/20
Partner Action: No Federal Troops in Chicago!
Trump has authorized the deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to Chicago, while a federal judge in Oregon has temporarily blocked a similar deployment of troops to Portland. Trump is attempting to mischaracterize the legal and lawful first amendment right of citizens to protest as an excuse to send in troops to dominate and control Democrat-led cities.
ICE is already terrorizing and shooting civilians, kidnapping people off the street, and wreaking havoc in our city. Trump is the cause of violence in Chicago, and it must stop NOW.
The Trump administration is manufacturing threats of an imaginary crime wave to justify their use of the US military for domestic law enforcement. The deployment of troops to harass and terrorize communities is a horrendous and massively expensive abuse of power that endangers the liberty and rights of all US residents, particularly immigrants, unhoused people, and people of color.
👉 All Illinois elected officials need to sound the alarm about Trump’s unhinged weaponization of the US military against the American public.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [ZIP CODE]. I’m calling to demand that [NAME] stand up against the Trump administration's deployment of National Guard troops to Chicago. Using the military to police Americans is a costly abuse of power designed to scare communities and silence dissent.
