Monday, August 25 - Protect Medicare / Chicago #WorkersOverBillionaires Labor Day / No Concentration Camps

Partner Action: Stand Against ICE Expansion

In July, Republicans passed H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts and impacts many health care sectors like hospitals, nursing homes, CHIP, ACA marketplaces, and Medicare. Despite promises not to cut Medicare, the bill’s deficit increase triggers the PAYGO rule, risking a $490 billion cut to Medicare over ten years.

Because H.R. 1 would increase the deficit by approximately $3.4 trillion, automatic cuts (sequesters) would be triggered by January 2026, affecting hospitals, doctors, and providers. While some programs are protected, Medicare is not.

👉 Lawmakers now must pass legislation to exempt Medicare from these cuts and protect seniors from the harmful impacts of H.R. 1.

Script: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I’m calling to ask [REP/SEN NAME] to sponsor and support legislation that would exempt Medicare from automatic cuts triggered by H.R. 1’s deficit increases and the Pay-As-You-Go Act. Lawmakers must hold firm to their promise that Medicare will not be touched and protect seniors from the disastrous effects of H.R. 1.

ICA & Partner Action: Chicago #WorkersOverBillionaires Labor Day 9/1

The billionaires continue to wage a cruel war on working people, with their cronies in the administration, ICE and law enforcement backing up their attacks. This Labor Day we will continue to stand strong, fighting for public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, shared prosperity over corporate politics.

Working people built this nation and we know how to take care of each other. We won’t back down—we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans. The billionaire's time is up.

On September 1st we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people.

In thousands of communities around the country we encourage you to take a stand with us on Labor Day. On the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms and at congressional offices. Together we will demand a world that works for all of us.

👉 Join us at Chicago #WorkersOverBillionaires Labor Day on Monday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at Haymarket Memorial
(151-169 N Desplaines St).

Partner Action: No Concentration Camps!

The South Florida Detention Facility, colloquially known as “Alligator Alcatraz,” would be better termed “Alligator Auschwitz." It doesn’t have gas chambers, but make no mistake: this abomination meets the dictionary definition of a concentration camp.

Every compassionate American should be ashamed that a nation which once helped defeat fascism has failed to learn one of the most important lessons of its past. Don’t let the USA become a fascist state.

👉 Tell Governor Pritzker and Attorney General Raoul to do everything they can to stop the building of inhumane camps in Illinois.
