ICA Action: Stand With Us This Weekend!
As Trump dismantles our democracy day by day, Betty Alzamora of Indivisible Chicago has a clear message: we have to stay in the streets. We have to maintain a sustained presence, displaying publicly that we will not allow Trump, MAGA, Musk and his billionaire crew to steal from the poor to give to the rich.
Through protest we can make sure that the horrific reality of a Trump presidency is always in the face of everyday folks. This can help move public perception and lead to sweeping change at the midterms.
👉 We need you this weekend and the weeks ahead. Pick a day (or a few); pick a protest (or more than one); bring your friends.
Stand up for Science on Friday, March 7 from noon to 1 p.m. at Federal Plaza: Join a grassroots group of students, professors, scientists, and concerned citizens, some of whom have been directly affected by cuts to Federal funding, along with Indivisible Chicago as we rally at Federal Plaza in defense of science.
Chicago’s Rally & March for Int’l Womxn’s Day on Saturday, March 8th 11:30 a.m. at Daley Plaza: Indivisible Chicago is co-sponsoring this event with Gemmes for Femmes to march, rally, and raise our voices for justice, equity, and liberation.
Takedown Tesla, Trump and Tyranny - March and Rally at Tesla Dealership on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at Water Tower Plaza (Jane M. Byrne Plaza): Join Indivisible Chicago in the streets as we rally and march from Water Tower Park to the Gold Coast Tesla dealership where we will call out Elon Musk for his attempts to dismantle our democracy, and to inflict pain on your family and the most vulnerable.
Partner Action: Call on Congress to Protect Social Security Benefits
Social Security is a safety net program providing monthly payments to retirees, their families, and individuals with disabilities. Despite Trump’s repeated promises of no cuts, his actions suggest otherwise, especially with pending government budget cuts.
By slashing the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) workforce by up to 50%, Elon Musk’s DOGE threatens the ability to administer benefits to 72.5 million people. Additionally, DOGE plans to close hundreds of local offices that assist with enrollment and error resolution, disproportionately impacting low-income, disabled, and low-literacy individuals.
The SSA has not missed a benefit payment in 80 years, but former commissioner Martin O’Malley warns that workforce cuts could lead to “total system collapse” and benefit disruptions within 30-90 days. Congress must condemn these attacks on a vital safety net for millions of vulnerable Americans.
👉 Call and demand your representatives protect social security benefits!

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [zip code]. I’m calling to demand [REP NAME] protect the Social Security Administration from DOGE’s workforce cuts and office closures that will put the benefits of over 72 million Americans at risk. To ensure people continue getting their benefit checks and assistance, it’s critical that you refuse to pass any budget or spending bill that doesn’t restore the SSA to full working capacity and re-open shuttered offices.

Partner Action: Weekly Witness Slips
The Illinois General Assembly is back in Session, and now’s the time to make your voice heard!
A Witness Slip is a person or group's position on a particular bill. Filling out a witness slip is a great way to let legislators know whether you support or oppose a bill.
Witness slips are read during a committee hearing and help inform legislators as to where people stand, allowing informed decisions when voting. Witness slips are a quick way to make your voice heard in state government.
👉 Fill out these witness slips as PROPONENT to support legislation that addresses violence against women, combats discrimination, increases voting accessibility, promotes gun safety, improves maternal & infant health, encourages representation, fosters inclusivity, and supports survivors.
Not sure how to fill out a witness slip? Check the link above for instructions!
