ICA Action: Protect Section 230 to Fight Censorship
While Trump and his MAGA allies are actively dismantling democratic institutions and working to silence critics, a group of Democratic Senators — including Illinois’ own Senator Dick Durbin — are teaming up with Trump’s strongest supporters to repeal Section 230, the law that enables content moderation and protects websites from being sued for hosting user speech.
This move would give Trump and his allies unprecedented power to censor online speech while consolidating control of the internet under Meta and Google, crushing smaller platforms and independent media.
Here are the facts:
Repealing Section 230 would increase government censorship, making it easier for Trump to silence critics and control online discourse.
Without 230, small sites and independent journalists could be sued into bankruptcy, leaving only the biggest corporations standing.
Section 230 protects both free speech and content moderation—removing it would force platforms to either allow all content (including disinformation and hate speech) or remove everything to avoid legal liability.

ICA Action: No Cuts to Medicaid Phone Bank TOMORROW
At the end of February, the GOP-controlled House voted for a Budget Resolution that proposes cutting $880 billion, primarily targeting Medicaid, which provides healthcare to over 72 million Americans. In Illinois, this affects nearly half our children, two-thirds of seniors in nursing homes, and 40% of all pregnancies. The MAGA agenda seeks to slash these essential services, like Medicaid and SNAP, to fund tax giveaways for the ultra-wealthy, despite the failure of "trickle-down" economics.
This budget isn’t finalized yet! We’re calling constituents in Congressman Bost’s District IL-12 to oppose cuts to Medicaid, which supports almost 200,000 seniors, children, and low-wage workers.
