Friday, April 18 - Protect Our Care IL Phonebank / Oppose HHS Cuts / Civil Servants Speak Out

Partner Action: Protect Our Care IL Phonebank TODAY & Every Friday

It's going to take every one of us to fight back against Congressional budget cuts -- join us for a phonebank to engage key communities!

This week, Congress got closer to passing devastating federal spending cuts to vital programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and education. We must push back because these cuts would fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy, leaving everyday Illinoisans struggling.

Can you join us to call constituents in key Illinois districts and patch them through to their Representatives' offices? No experience necessary -- we'll help you get started with a quick tutorial at the beginning. All you need is a PC with reliable internet connection!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Sign up to phone bank today at noon, or join one an upcoming Friday!

Partner Action: Oppose HHS Cuts

A leaked proposal from the Office of Management and Budget reveals that the Trump administration plans to cut funding for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) by over 30%. This would eliminate vital public health programs, including HIV/AIDS prevention and mental health services.

These drastic cuts threaten the health of all Americans, jeopardizing agencies like the FDA, CDC, and NIH. Layoffs of 10,000 HHS employees have already occurred, impacting senior meal distribution and programs aiding low-income households.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Congress must oppose these harmful cuts and call on HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to justify this reorganization.

  • Contact Senator Durbin at 312-353-4952 or at other numbers listed here

  • Contact Senator Duckworth at 312-886-3506 or at other numbers listed here

  • Find your representative

Script: Iโ€™m calling to demand that [REP/SEN NAME] vocally oppose the recent staff and program cuts to the Department of Health and Human Services. These cuts endanger everything from infectious disease control and cancer research to essential programs like Head Start and Meals on Wheels. [REP/SEN NAME] must also demand Secretary Kennedy attend congressional hearings to explain the reasoning behind these dangerous changes.
