Monday, April 21 - Earth Day EPA Event / Demand the Return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia / How Trump is Trying to Kill our Democracy

Partner Action: TOMORROW - Earth Day EPA Event

👉 This Tuesday, April 22, join us for a pivotal Visibility and Press Event in front of the Metcalfe Federal Building at 77 W. Jackson from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

Organized by Debra Shore and AFGE, this gathering is essential to confront the ongoing threats to our environment and the integrity of the EPA.

We need your support—EPA employees will join us during their lunch break from noon to 12:30 PM. Feel free to arrive early or stay late to bolster our presence. Signs will be provided, but we encourage everyone to create their own messages reflecting our commitment to environmental protection. Let’s amplify our voices together!

ICA Action: Demand the Return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia

We are facing a constitutional crisis. On April 10th, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia—a Salvadoran man who was in the U.S. legally but was secretly and illegally deported to El Salvador over what officials now admit was an “administrative error.”

Instead of complying with the court’s ruling, the administration has defied it. White House officials are claiming it’s “up to El Salvador” whether he returns—ignoring the Supreme Court’s direct order.

Kilmar is now imprisoned in El Salvador. The refusal to follow this ruling signals something terrifying: if the federal government can forcibly remove someone from the U.S., even after a Supreme Court ruling, no one is safe. This is about more than one case—it’s about the collapse of due process and constitutional checks on power. If left unchecked, it means the federal government could disappear anyone—citizen or not—without recourse.

We need members of Congress to speak out, loudly and clearly. This is not a partisan issue—it’s a matter of law, human rights, and democracy.

👉 Use this form to email your members of Congress.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME], and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to speak out and demand the Trump administration follow the Supreme Court’s order to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia. No one should be deported without due process—this is a constitutional crisis. This is not a partisan issue—it’s a matter of law, human rights, and democracy. Please act now.

ICA Action: Stop Trump From Killing Democracy Wednesday

Join Indivisible Chicago at Federal Plaza on Wednesday, April 23rd as we call out the many ways that Trump regime and MAGA right are trying to kill our democracy -- and make it clear that we will stop them. We will use a little street theater and all of our voices to defend our democracy, our communities, and our freedoms.

Each day brings more actions by Trump and the MAGA right that directly attack the very principles of our democracy: fair elections, free speech, the balance of powers -- and the list goes on. The illegal and unconstitutional actions of Trump and the MAGA Right have included coercion, disappearances, kidnapping, and retaliation. We need everyone who cares about our city, our nation, and our planet to make their voices heard. Join us and let’s show Trump and Musk that we will not sit by as they attack everything we hold dear.

👉 RSVP to the event on Wednesday, April 23rd at 5:30 p.m.

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
