Partner Action: Defend Medicaid from Budget Reconciliation Cuts
A Congressional Budget Office analysis warns that Republican proposals to cut Medicaid funding to finance billionaire tax breaks would cause millions to lose health coverage. The GOP is pushing a budget reconciliation bill to fund tax cuts for the wealthy, which would require significant Medicaid reductions.
Medicaid covers 72 million low-income and disabled Americans and is jointly funded by federal and state governments, with the federal share higher in poorer states. Republicans are considering cutting federal funding for Medicaid expansion and imposing work requirements. If enacted, over 34,000 deaths annually could result, and millions would lose access to vital health care.
👉 Members of Congress must oppose these harmful cuts before the bill advances.

Script: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to oppose any budget reconciliation bill that cuts Medicaid, reduces Medicaid expansion, or imposes Medicaid work requirements. Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of Americans and rural health systems. Reducing its federal budget would cut off millions of people from needed health care and destroy lives and local economies.
