Tuesday, May 27 - Healthcare Phone Bank TOMORROW / U.S. v. Skrmetti Response / Witness Slip Roundup

ICA & Partner Action: Phone Bank for Healthcare

The GOP-controlled House passed a cruel budget bill that threatens to cut health care for nearly 14 million Americans by reducing Medicaid and ACA support, while giving large tax breaks to the wealthy. It also mandates sequestration cuts to Medicare totaling $500 billion, risking hospital closures and job losses in Illinois and nationwide. These cuts are unpopular even among some Republicans, which is why the bill was rushed through with limited hearings. This bill is not final, and we can still defeat it.

👉 Join us for an upcoming phone bank. Your voice can make a difference.

Partner Action: U.S. v. Skrmetti Response

Trans Up Front partnered with the ACLU and Lambda Legal to keep you informed about a pivotal Supreme Court case that will shape the future of trans youth's access to healthcare.

The decision in U.S. v. Skrmetti could come at any time before the end of June — and when it does, we’ll be ready to respond. Our coalition is preparing a rapid response to make it clear: no matter the outcome, we stand with trans youth.

ðŸ‘‰ This is a critical moment. Join us in staying informed and being ready to mobilize in defense of trans rights and healthcare access.

Partner Action: Witness Slip Roundup

The Illinois General Assembly is back in Session, and now’s the time to make your voice heard! A Witness Slip is a person or group's position on a particular bill. Filling out a witness slip is a great way to let legislators know whether you support or oppose a bill.

Witness slips are read during a committee hearing and help inform legislators as to where people stand, allowing informed decisions when voting. Witness slips are a quick way to make your voice heard in state government.

👉 Fill out these witness slips as PROPONENT to support legislation that addresses gender-based violence, promotes health equity, and upholds human rights. Even if you have submitted a witness slip for a particular bill in a previous committee hearing, you still need to submit a new witness slip for this upcoming hearing.

Not sure how to fill out a witness slip? Check the link above for instructions!
