Friday, May 2nd - Thank you for Protesting / Show up Chicago / Protect Public Health
ICA Action: Thank You for Protesting (Let's Plan to Do It Again!)
Thank you to everyone who joined our May Day Rally. Despite the rain, Chicago really showed up to support workers, unions, and immigration rights! More than 100 organizations came together and marched nearly 4 miles in a serious show of solidarity.
Obviously, our fight against this administration isn't over, so let's plan the next big action.
Save the date: June 14th. Trump wants tanks in the streets for his birthday, but he'll see power rising up from the people across this country.
Indivisible is planning a nationwide day of action to say No Kings. Indivisible Chicago is the lead organizer of the main event here in Chicago. Stay tuned for more details soon!
ICA Action: Show up Chicago with the Blue Beginning Chapter
The Blue Beginning chapter of Indivisible Chicago has its monthly community gathering/panel show/happy hour coming up fast β May 12!
We'll **Get Organized** with leaders from local activist organizations, including Anu Sarda from Swing Left Chicago and **Kevin Naglich,** who's organizing a new Indivisible Chicago chapter on the northwest side.
Doors open at 6, panel starts at 7, but come early and stay late for community, camaraderie, and conversation.
πRSVP here. Free and open to all, but please RSVP and note: admission is first come, first served; your RSVP does **not** guarantee you a place.
Partner Action: Protect Public Health and Oppose Cuts at HHS
A leaked Office of Management and Budget proposal for HHS cuts indicates the Trump administration intends to slash HHS funding by over 30%, completely eliminating funding for crucial public health services and programs like HIV/AIDS prevention initiatives and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Our friends at 5Calls have an action to oppose HHS Workforce and Program Cuts.
HHS is an umbrella agency tasked with protecting the health of all Americans. It includes critical agencies like the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Trump team has initiated sudden layoffs of 10,000 HHS workers, and have shuttered entire programs without concrete plans to replace the services they provide.
These attacks on HHS directly endanger our nationβs health.
Congress must vocally oppose these cuts and demand HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. justify his plans for this destructive HHS reorganization.
