ICA Partner Action: Urge your Reps to Save Public Transit
Tired of ghost buses, long waits, and missed connections? So is the team at Better Streets Chicago.
They're taking action with the Metropolitan Mobility Authority Act, or SB5/HB1833. This bill would unify our entire transit system – one fare, one schedule, one system! And with that, a $1.5b increase in annual funding that would empower dramatic service improvements and expansion.
Our transit troubles are about to get worse! Later this year, Federal COVID relief funds for transit agencies are set to expire, leaving CTA, Pace, and Metra facing a $730 million fiscal cliff – annually. This would mean drastic service cuts – longer waits, entire lines going away, and mind boggling traffic.
👉Use Better Streets Chicago's tool to send an email to your representatives to let them know you want them to support the Metropolitan Mobility Authority Act!
While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
