Tuesday, April 15 - Demand the Return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia / Join us for a May Day Rally & March! / Virtual Organizing Prep for Upcoming Actions
ICA Action: Demand the Return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia
We are facing a constitutional crisis. On April 10th, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia—a Salvadoran man who was in the U.S. legally but was secretly and illegally deported to El Salvador over what officials now admit was an “administrative error.”
Instead of complying with the court’s ruling, the administration has defied it. White House officials are claiming it’s “up to El Salvador” whether he returns—ignoring the Supreme Court’s direct order.
Kilmar is now imprisoned in a notorious Salvadoran prison. The refusal to follow this ruling signals something terrifying: if the federal government can forcibly remove someone from the U.S., even after a Supreme Court ruling, no one is safe. This is about more than one case—it’s about the collapse of due process and constitutional checks on power. If left unchecked, it means the federal government could disappear anyone—citizen or not—without recourse.
We need members of Congress to speak out, loudly and clearly. This is not a partisan issue—it’s a matter of law, human rights, and democracy.

I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to speak out and demand the Trump administration follow the Supreme Court’s order to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia. ICA & Partner Action: Join us for a May Day Rally & March!
Indivisible Chicago stands in solidarity with immigrant communities and in defense of immigration rights. On May 1, 2025, we’re proud to join Consejo de Resistencia en Defensa del Inmigrante and a broad coalition of organizations for a massive International Workers’ Day Rally and March at 11:00am at Union Park (1501 W. Randolph St).
We’ll rally and march alongside Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Coalition Against the Trump Agenda, and many others in opposition to Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the authoritarian policies threatening our communities, democracy, and the planet.
This will be a nonviolent, broad-based action uniting groups from across movements. Join us in showing the strength of our communities and our collective resistance. Juntos podemos – together, we win.
Partner Action: Virtual Organizing Prep for Upcoming Rallies and Actions
On April 5, millions of Americans took to the streets—in big cities and small towns—to remind Donald Trump and Elon Musk that our democracy belongs to the people, not billionaires. This wasn’t just a one-time event; it was the start of something bigger.
Now, we're keeping that momentum going. Join Hands Off! this Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00pm for a nationwide call to discuss What's Next in the Fight? Dive into how we can keep the pressure on Trump, Musk, and their enablers in Congress.
👉 RSVP here to join What's Next in the Fight? with Hands Off!
At the same time, join SURJ and leaders from the Chicago Teachers Union for Solidarity, Not Scapegoats: Strategies for Organizing the White Working Class, an important conversation on organizing against division. The team will dive into strategies for organizing the white working class and coming together in solidarity instead of blame. This is especially important as we gear up for May Day, the quintessential holiday of solidarity. Registered participants will receive a recording via email.
