Partner Action: Oppose the SAVE America Act in Senate
Last year, lawmakers tried to pass the deeply unpopular SAVE Act that would have blocked millions of eligible Americans from voting. It didn’t go over well.
Last week, lawmakers in both the House and Senate renewed their push to pass the SAVE Act, introducing multiple new versions of this awful bill. Like their predecessor, these proposals would require voters to produce a document like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote. More than 21 million American citizens don’t have these documents readily available.
The House voted 218-213 to pass the “SAVE America Act", and the bill now moves to the Senate. This bill maintains the language of the original SAVE Act and adds new requirements that voters present a proof of citizenship both when registering to vote and when casting a ballot, drastically increasing the difficulty for eligible voters.
Members of Congress gave up on the original SAVE Act after hearing strong opposition from their constituents. We must make sure they hear us again.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [ZIP CODE]. I'm calling to urge Rep. [NAME] to oppose the SAVE America Act, which would create unnecessary barriers to voter registration and disenfranchise countless voters, especially women, seniors, and low-income citizens. The bill is designed to block voters despite no evidence of widespread fraud.
