Partner Action: Save the Fair Housing Initiatives Program
The Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP), created in 1987 by HUD, supports efforts to combat housing discrimination, educate about fair housing laws, and address its harmful effects. It’s the only federal funding source for private organizations fighting housing discrimination.
In February, President Trump cut 78 grants to local fair housing groups, and his FY26 budget proposes ending FHIP entirely. Nonprofits handle 75% of fair housing complaints and are vital advocates for civil rights.
👉 Congress must protect FHIP to ensure fair housing rights for everyone and preserve access to safe, affordable homes.
