Thursday, December 4 - Protect State-Level AI Regulation / Indivisible Downtown Meeting 12/8 / How to Protect HIV Funding and Care Webinar 12/9
Partner Action: Protect State-Level AI Regulation
House Republicans are again pushing a proposal to ban states from regulating artificial intelligence for 10 years, this time by trying to attach it to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Even if this amendment doesn’t advance, the Trump administration is pressuring Congress to support a ban and has drafted an executive order that would punish states with AI laws.
More than 30 states have passed protections against harmful AI uses like deepfakes, nonconsensual sexual content, and child exploitation. A federal ban would block these laws and hand even more power to big tech companies.
👉 Contact your Members of Congress and urge them to oppose any attempt to block state-level AI regulation and to stand against efforts to override state consumer protections.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Chicago. I'm calling to demand [REP NAME] oppose any legislative provision that blocks state-level regulation of AI. Congress should be working to protect our safety and privacy from the unknown risks of AI, not prioritizing the self-serving needs of big tech corporations and billionaire CEOs.
