Community Action: Not Another Dollar for ICE or Border Patrol

Right now, Congress is considering an additional $30 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol. We cannot let this happen.

ICE and Border Patrol operate with impunity, locking up community members at record rates while deaths in detention reach catastrophic levels. Expanding warehouse-scale detention sites and violent agent tactics continue to harm our communities, claiming far too many innocent lives.

While community advocacy successfully pushed Congress to cut annual funding earlier this year, leaders recently passed a fast-track measure giving $70 billion in unrestricted funds to these agencies. The FY27 appropriations cycle is our critical opportunity to demand real accountability, reject any new funding, and redirect resources back into our communities.

👉 Tell your members of Congress: reject new ICE and Border Patrol funding. Not one more dollar.

ICA Chapter Action: Indivisible Postcard Party in Lincoln Square Tuesdays

It's time to write postcards to get out the vote for the midterms!

Every Tuesday, we'll be coming together to save democracy by writing postcards to voters in Michigan to get out the vote in the November election. We will provide the postcards, the addresses, and the script. You provide the stamps for the postcards you write or donate!

Why write postcards to Michigan? This is a state race, but one with national implications. We will be reminding voters how important it is to vote in this election. In Michigan the Senate, Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. are up for election in the midterms. These need to remain in the hands of Democrats to protect our democracy!

👉 So, come join us at Wild Goose in Lincoln Square on an upcoming Tuesday. Remember to bring postcard stamps or donations to cover stamps!

Community Action: Advocate for LGBTQ+ Equality in Illinois 8/26

Join TaskForce Prevention & Community Services and Equality Illinois for a community conversation on LGBTQ+ advocacy and action. Learn about the rights and protections LGBTQ+ people already have in Illinois, the policies that still need to change, and how you can effectively engage lawmakers and advocate for your community.

Whether you're new to advocacy or already organizing, you'll leave with practical tools to help build a more equitable Illinois.

👉 RSVP for the Statewide Network Meeting for LGBTQ+ Youth and Young Adults on Wednesday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
