Friday, August 28 - Reject Heidi Overton for FDA Commissioner / Tell the EPA to Monitor Microplastics in Our Water / Indivisible Westside Election Volunteer Kickoff
Partner Action: Reject Heidi Overton for FDA Commissioner
Trump has nominated Heidi Overton to lead the FDA, the agency responsible for the safety of our food, drugs, vaccines, and medical devices. Overton has helped advance the administration’s rollback of the childhood vaccine schedule and has repeatedly attacked medication abortion, despite its established safety record.
The FDA needs leadership grounded in science and public health, not ideology. The Senate must reject her nomination.
👉 The Senate must vote NO on Heidi Overton for FDA Commissioner.

Script: Hi, my name is [NAME], and I’m a constituent from [CITY]. I’m calling to urge Senator [NAME] to oppose Heidi Overton’s nomination as FDA Commissioner. Her record on vaccines and medication abortion makes her unfit to lead an agency responsible for protecting public health. Thank you.

Partner Action: Tell the EPA to Monitor Microplastics in Our Water
Microplastics are showing up in our air, food, bodies, and drinking water. Monitoring our water for these contaminants is an important first step toward understanding the problem and developing protections to keep our water safe.
Despite calls from governors, attorneys general, and advocacy groups, the EPA left microplastics out of its proposed nationwide drinking water monitoring rule. The agency is accepting public comments through August 31, giving us a chance to demand action before the rule is finalized.
Food & Water Action has a guide with talking points and sample language to make submitting your comment easy.
