Friday, August 29 - #WorkersOverBillionaires Labor Day / Demand RFK Jr.'s Resignation / Protect Pretrial Fairness

ICA & Partner Action: Chicago #WorkersOverBillionaires Labor Day 9/1

The billionaires continue to wage a cruel war on working people, with their cronies in the administration, ICE and law enforcement backing up their attacks. This Labor Day we will continue to stand strong, fighting for public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, shared prosperity over corporate politics.

Working people built this nation and we know how to take care of each other. We won’t back down—we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans. The billionaire's time is up.

On September 1st we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people.

In thousands of communities around the country we encourage you to take a stand with us on Labor Day. On the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms and at congressional offices. Together we will demand a world that works for all of us.

👉 Join us at Chicago #WorkersOverBillionaires Labor Day on Monday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at Haymarket Memorial (151-169 N Desplaines St).

Partner Action: Demand Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Resignation

Since July 2025, RFK Jr. has embarked on a dangerous assault on U.S. public health. On June 2, he canceled a bird flu vaccine contract and altered COVID-19 vaccine recommendations, citing nonexistent studies. By June 10, he removed all members of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, risking further erosion of vaccine trust.

On August 7, he canceled $500 million in grants for mRNA vaccine development, endangering ongoing research. A week later, he threatened access to preventive health services by removing all members of the US Preventive Services Task Force. On August 8, a gunman opened fire at the CDC in Atlanta amid rising violence and distrust, which RFK Jr. blamed on CDC critics.

Most recently, on August 28, CDC director Susan Monarez was fired for resisting Kennedy’s anti-scientific directives, and four senior CDC staff resigned, worsening the chaos.

👉 Congress must act immediately to remove Kennedy and protect public health.

Script: I’m calling [REP/SEN NAME] to express my outrage over RFK Jr.’s attacks on public health and essential scientific research. His dangerous proliferation of vaccine skepticism is putting countless lives at risk through public distrust and acts of violence. I ask that [REP/SEN NAME] move to impeach him as Secretary.

Partner Action: Beat Back Trump’s Attack on the Pretrial Fairness Act!

President Trump has said he wants to end the Pretrial Fairness Act and bring back money bail in Illinois. We are asking people from across the state to call on their legislators and Governor Pritzker to defend this historic victory from the Trump administration’s lies.

For decades, the size of a person’s bank account was the main factor determining who was jailed and who returned to the community while awaiting trial and presumed innocent. The money bond system caused countless people to lose their jobs, housing, and even custody of their children—not because they had been found to be a danger but simply because they couldn’t afford to purchase their freedom while awaiting trial.

What Donald Trump really means when he calls to bring back money bail is that he wants a system that punishes poor people and People of Color based on the size of their bank accounts and the color of their skin while rewarding wealthy and white people. Thousands of people from across our state came together to end this injustice; we cannot allow Trump to deny the will of the people.

👉 Join us in calling on Gov. Pritzker and the Illinois legislature to protect the Pretrial Fairness Act.
