Partner Action: Urgent Action Needed for Parking Enforcement Initiative

The Elected Public Safety/Police 19th District Council, alongside Jason Huff from the 8th District, is advocating for a common-sense solution: removing approximately 100,000 parking-related 911 calls from the CPD’s responsibilities each year. With 70% of District Councils and five of six Commissioners supporting this initiative, we believe it can help CPD focus on serious crime while allowing the Department of Finance to handle parking enforcement efficiently.

This op-ed in the Chicago Tribune outlines the importance of this issue. Unfortunately, the Mayor’s office has postponed an upcoming City Council hearing by declining to allow key City department representatives to attend.

👉 Please contact the Mayor’s office and urge them to facilitate collaboration with Department leaders. Together, we can drive real change in public safety!
