Way to go, Joe! We found a lot to love in what one report called President Biden’s “rowdy, shouty” State of the Union address. He hit the key notes (mostly) without flaw. He touted the successes he’s achieved despite GOP roadblocks: including measures to slow climate change and restrict access to guns as well as expanding workers’ right to unionize and capping certain drug prices and bank junk fees. Looking ahead, Biden is promising to restore abortion rights, tax corporations and the wealthy, and raise the minimum wage in a second term. He called out the Republicans who refuse to pass any further meaningful legislation out of fear they will be taking away The Former Guy’s key campaign talking points. In short: Biden showed the skill and the smarts to win this election and continue moving our country toward the future we want. It’s a clear choice between a progressive leader for the people and a grievance-driven charlatan who’s only in it for himself. Now let’s text, phone, write, and knock doors to ensure our country moves in the right direction.

Super Tuesday: super newsy
With somewhere around one-third of Tuesday’s GOP voters refusing to vote for Trump, we see a very promising path to victory. And it’s a path that leads to our doorstep, as noted by George Mason University prof Michael Fauntroy: “[I]n a closely contested state like Michigan or Wisconsin, perhaps even North Carolina, if those voters stay home in November or just can’t bring themselves to vote for former President Trump, then former President Trump cannot win those states. And if he can’t win those states, he can’t win the election.”

Bring Chicago Home: Your vote is critical
The courts have upheld this referendum and every vote will be counted. While legal challenges sought to confuse us and suppress the vote, we know this “mansion tax” is the right way to fund affordable housing and invest in programs that prevent homelessness. Please ask your friends, family, and neighbors to be sure to vote in support of this initiative. And, while we’re recruiting phone bankers and canvassers, the urgent need right now is to register more volunteers for Election Day March 19. There are phone banks that day, too.
