Thursday Feb 15: Meet Emma Tai and Bring Chicago Home

Dear Indivisible Chicagoans,

We're writing with two special invitations: (1) To meet an extraordinary organizer at our Blue Thursday gathering next week at the Hideout. (2) To help us help her with the crucial campaign she's now leading.

The organizer is Emma Tai, who headed up United Working Families when they powered the successful election campaigns of Brandon Johnson and Delia Ramirez. She's now leading the Bring Chicago Home campaign (BCH), Mayor Johnson's proposal to fight homelessness with a "mansion tax" on the city's most fortunate.

Emma will be our guest at a special edition of Blue Thursday, our monthly political mixer at the Hideout. She'll tell us about the proposal, answer your questions, and sign up volunteers to support it. Please join us!

But don't wait to join the fight: We need Chicagoans to VOTE YES on the Bring Chicago Home referendum March 19. It’s a sensible and well-designed progressive policy initiative, so of course it faces heavy opposition from business and real-estate interests. That's where we come in. We're working to explain the referendum and spread the word to Chicago voters before they’re swamped by the usual flood of anti-tax propaganda.

 Here's how you can help:

➔ Join us at the Hideout February 15, 6-7 PM, for Blue Thursday, the monthly political happy hour where we mix with pols, pundits, and our fellow progressives. It's free and open to all. We're hoping to gather a big crowd for Emma, so please RSVP here and let us know you're coming.

➔ Phone bank with us this Sunday and every Sunday through primary election day March 19. We specialize in making phone banking easy and comfortable even for first-timers. We provide all the training and resources you need, including one-on-one tech support, and a core of experienced volunteers who will welcome you in and help you succeed.

➔ If Sundays don't suit you, or one day a week is just not enough, join another BCH phone bank. Click here for a complete schedule.

Canvass with Bring Chicago Home. They have numerous neighborhood canvasses scheduled between now and election day, many (but not all) on Saturdays and Sundays. Look here for a complete schedule and signup details

➔ Talk with your family, friends, and neighbors. If they know the facts they won't fall for the lies. If you’re not familiar with the issue, educate yourself at bringchicagohome.org and with this info sheet prepared by Indivisible Chicago.

When we elected Brandon Johnson last year, this was just the kind of progressive policy we were hoping for. It's now up to us to bring it home.

 Onward!
