Wednesday, October 9 - MI & WI Canvassing / No More U.S. Weapons Used on Civilians

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Canvassing in WI & MI

As the election approaches, swing states are where our efforts can make the biggest impact. Canvassing in these areas helps us connect directly with voters, address their concerns, and inspire action. Every conversation counts and can spark real change. Let’s mobilize and ensure our voices resonate across two crucial states: Michigan and Wisconsin.

Michigan

Come and join Indivisible Chicago knocking doors in the critical swing state of Michigan as we work to maintain the Midwest Blue Wall and defeat Trump.

We'll make the 90-minute drive from Chicago to where we’re headed in Michigan. We’ll have a pre-canvass briefing once we get there, then split off into pairs to knock doors and find the voters that are going to help us deliver a win in November.

We'll provide all the info and prep you'll need and will have carpools for anyone needing a ride. Sign up today for upcoming canvass sessions on 10/13, 10/20, and 10/25.

Wisconsin

Next week in Wisconsin we have a two-fer. We'll be partnering with the Wisconsin Working Families Party and canvassing for Harris-Walz and for LuAnn Bird, who is running to defeat a radical Republican in the State Assembly. LuAnn can win due to the remapping ordered by the state supreme court. (Did you attend our Rally2Win? Then you met LuAnn on stage.)

We will be canvassing just south of Milwaukee (exact location coming soon). We’ll have a pre-canvass briefing once we get there, then split off into pairs to knock doors and find the voters that are going to help us deliver a win in November. Sign up to canvass on Saturday, October 19.

Action 2: No More U.S. Weapons Used on Civilians in Palestine and Lebanon

Indivisible Chicago urges our members of Congress to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, to ensure humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza, to continue to demand the release of all hostages, and to block US military aid to Israel that would cause additional civilian deaths in Gaza.

As the situation in Gaza worsens and civilian deaths climb well over 40,000, the conflict in the region has widened to Lebanon. At least 1,400 Lebanese have been killed, including civilians, medics and Hezbollah fighters, and 1.2 million driven from their homes in less than two weeks.

The situation in the region is undoubtably complex, but one thing is clear: Israel continues to use U.S.-provided weapons to kill thousands of civilians and displace millions more.

At least three Illinois members of the US House (Rep Jonathan Jackson, Rep Delia Ramirez, Rep Chuy Garcia) have issued statements calling for the United States to end military funding to the Israeli government. Let's call on all our elected members of Congress to act.

Phone our two Illinois senators and your own congressman/congresswoman and tell them that the United States must stop providing military aid for the Israeli government to use against civilians.

Suggested script: "Hello, I am [full name] and I am a constituent in zip code________. The Israeli government is using military aid from the United States in attacks that have killed civilians in Gaza and Lebanon. Take action to block US military aid to Israel that would cause additional civilian deaths."
