Wednesday, December 18 - Equal Rights Amendment / Tell Governor Pritzker to Protect Illinois

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Tell You Rep to Support the Equal Rights Amendment

Republicans are gearing up to attack our rights with their Project 2025 agenda, even as it remains overwhelmingly unpopular. We need Democrats, especially VP Harris, to fight back vigorously until Trump takes office on January 20th.

Here’s how you can help: Urge your Representative to call on VP Harris to publish the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). This is crucial for enshrining gender equality in our Constitution and protecting against discrimination for women, girls, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

The ERA has already cleared the ratification threshold of 38 states, but Republican opposition has stalled its formal publication. By acting now, the Biden-Harris Administration can safeguard our rights against the incoming Trump Administration.

Take action: Fill out this form to be connected with your Representative. Let them know we expect them to leave no stone unturned in defending our rights and to urge VP Harris to publish the ERA!

Action 2: Tell Governor Pritzker to Protect Illinois

With Trump set to return to the White House in January, we must act NOW to protect the rights and freedoms of all Illinois residents, especially those traveling from red states.

Help us call on Governor Pritzker to take immediate and proactive measures to shield our state from the harmful policies that Trump is likely to impose. It’s crucial that he uses all available resources to defend our progress and the rights of marginalized communities.

Here are the key points we want to convey to the Governor:

  1. Thank him for his leadership in opposing Trump’s agenda and defending the rights of Illinoisans, especially regarding reproductive rights and support for marginalized communities.

  2. Express deep concern about the potential federal rollbacks on critical issues like healthcare, climate policy, and LGBTQ+ protections.

  3. Urge him to take bold actions, such as calling a special legislative session, creating a state-funded legal defense fund, forming partnerships with other blue states, and implementing protections for out-of-state visitors seeking essential services.

  4. Reinforce the message that Illinois must remain a stronghold for justice, equality, and environmental stewardship.

Now is the time to make our voices heard! Please take a moment to contact Governor Pritzker and let him know we stand together for a safer, more equitable Illinois.
