Action 1: Attend CTA Hearing on 2/27
Join Commuters Take Action and Better Streets Chicago on Tuesday, February 27th at City Hall and help us hold CTA and President Dorval Carter accountable during the first quarterly CTA hearing of 2024 at the 10am Committee on Transportation and the Public Way meeting.
As CTA continues to fail to provide adequate service, it's imperative for us to make a showing and demonstrate that the public is demanding accountability – and new leadership. Come in person to City Hall, sign up for public comment, and be a visible presence at the hearing to send a message to City Council and the Mayor that the time for change is now. RSVP here.

Action 2: Canvass for Bring Chicago Home
With over 68,000 people homeless in Chicago, the Bring Chicago Home coalition aims to create a dedicated revenue stream for the city to address homelessness by funding more permanent housing and supportive services. The proposal would be funded by changing the Real Estate Transfer Tax (RETT), a one-time tax on properties when they are sold, to a progressive structure. So properties sold for under a $1 million--roughly 96% of real estate sales in Chicago--would receive a tax cut, while properties sold for over $1 million would see a slight increase to the transfer tax. In order to enact this policy, Chicago voters need to VOTE YES on the referendum that will be on the March 19 primary ballot.
The Bring Chicago Home coalition has a number of phone banks scheduled for Saturdays, Sundays, and occasional weekdays, at various times and locations including South Shore, Bucktown, Uptown, and more. See the schedule and sign up to canvass.
