Monday, May 20 - Canvass Training / Palatine Rally to Call Out SCOTUS Corruption

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Canvass Training THIS WEEK

Ask any political pro: the most effective work we can do is face-to-face conversations with voters at their doors. But door-knocking is a stretch for a lot of us. That’s why we’ve developed Yes You Canvass, our training class for newbies (and experienced canvassers who want to brush up).

We take the mystery out of canvassing. It’s easier than it looks!

You’ll learn what to expect, how it works, things to do and avoid. We’ll answer your questions and pass along tips accumulated over years of successful canvassing. And we’ll be joined by some friends from Chicago’s improv community, who will share the communication skills they’re famous for.

These training sessions are being hosted by Indivisible Chicago chapters but are open to activists across the city. We’ve also invited our friends at Swing Left and other allied groups to join us.

Sign up here for one of the training sessions scheduled for May:

  • Tuesday, May 21, 6:30-8 PM, hosted by the Indivisible Downtown chapter at Grace Place, 637 S Dearborn

  • Wednesday, May 22, 6-7:30 PM, hosted by Indivisible Lincoln Square at Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N Lincoln

And watch this space for more training sessions coming soon.

Action 2: Palatine Rally to Call Out SCOTUS Corruption Wednesday

Indivisibles across Illinois are coming to Palatine to call out corruption on SCOTUS!

Justice should not be for sale, but some MAGA justices on the Supreme Court have been caught accepting lavish gifts and luxury trips from billionaire Republican donors. And these donors are getting exactly what they wanted: ultraconservative decisions that roll back our fundamental rights, like overturning Roe v. Wade, gutting the Voting Rights Act, and allowing for LGBTQ+ discrimination.

It’s time we investigated this corruption and held these justices accountable. We need Illinois Senator and Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee Dick Durbin to do everything in his power to investigate corruption on the court. He’s taken some initial steps, but we need him to go even further.

So Indivisible’s Corruption Caravan is hitting the road and holding rallies to call on Senator Durbin to act now. Meet up with the caravan at Palatine’s Volunteer Plaza / Clock Tower on Wednesday, May 22 at 4 p.m. as it makes its way across the state and invite your friends to join!  Bring signs. Parking is across the way in the shopping center with the large ACE hardware or immediately behind the plaza in the Northwest Community Remote care center.

Sponsors of the Suburban Palatine Rally include Indivisible Illinois, NWSOFA-Indivisible, Indivisible-Evanston, Indivisible-DuPage and Indivisible Naperville

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
