Partner Action: Tell Congress - Dissent is Not Grounds for Deportation
The Trump administration’s actions threaten our First Amendment rights, the worst since the Red Scare. The illegal arrests of Mahmoud Khalil, Rümeysa Öztürk, Badar Khan Suri, Mohsen Mahdawi, and others—who had their homes raided and were shipped across the country with no notice—are alarming.
These actions target constitutionally protected speech, including advocacy for Palestine, Israel, or criticizing the government. If the government can punish speech it disagrees with, it risks silencing all of us. We must demand Congress defend free speech and oppose any bills punishing noncitizens for exercising their First Amendment rights.

ICA Action: Postcards for Virginia Election
Indivisible Chicago Alliance has postcards from Postcards to Swing States to send to Virginia voters urging them to vote in their Governor and down ballot races in November.
This is a state race, but one with national implications The Virginia race pits former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, a Democrat, vs. Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, a MAGA Republican In addition to the Governor race it is critical to maintain the Democratic majority in the House of Delegates — where Democrats hold the narrowest of margins, 51-49.
👉 If you want to hold a postcard party, or want to write postcards on your own, please contact Pat Graham at pat@indivisiblechicago.com with the number of postcards you want, and she will help you with the details.
We will start distributing cards May 24th at locations in Lakeview and Lincoln Square. ICA provides the postcards, address list and script. Writers provide the stamps for their written postcards and mail on Oct 15th. Stay tuned for ICA future postcard parties!

We’ll hear about immigrant protection from a legal perspective in general, and more specifically how Chicago can respond to attacks on sanctuary cities.
👉 Join the community forum on Tuesday, June 3 at 3 p.m. at Sulzer Regional Library Auditorium.
