Thursday, March 5 - Vote No Federal Vouchers in Illinois / Ban Masked Federal Agents in Illinois / What’s the Plan? with Indivisible’s Co-Founders TODAY
Partner Action: Vote No Federal Vouchers in Illinois
About 10% of Illinois voters will see a non-binding referendum on their March 17 ballot about the new federal voucher program. Public school advocates are urging voters to vote no on vouchers.
Vouchers divert public dollars to private schools, lack the same accountability and transparency standards as public schools, and can exacerbate segregation and inequities in our education system.
The Trump administration has made expanding private school vouchers a key tactic in its broader effort to undermine public education. Congress has approved a national voucher framework — but states can opt out.
Here’s how you can help:
👉 Join a virtual phone bank on Tuesday, 3/10 from 6-8pm with to talk to voters about the advisory referendum and why vouchers would divert public dollars to private schools.
👉 Call Governor Pritzker's office and urge him to publicly commit that Illinois will NOT participate in the federal voucher program.
👉 Leave a written comment with the Governor’s office urging Illinois to opt out.

Partner Action: Ban Masked Federal Agents in Illinois
During the Midway Blitz, masked and heavily armed federal agents were abducting our neighbors and terrorizing - often violently - the people who were witnessing and documenting the agents' actions. So far, these agents have not been held accountable for their actions.
Last week, a federal judge underscored the unconstitutional use of masks by federal agents. In his ruling around the release of an El Salvadoran man from federal custody, Judge Joseph Godwin wrote "A masked agent freely uses force without justifying his actions and the public cannot name him to challenge his conduct. A regime of secret policing has no place in our society.”
Illinois Rep. Barbara Hernandez introduced legislation that would prohibit law enforcement from wearing masks while interacting with the public, except under very limited circumstances.

"Hi, my name is [NAME] and I live in [Cook] County. I'm reaching out to urge you to sponsor HB4086. We need to ensure that law enforcement officers are accountable for their actions. It's nearly impossible to do so when they are allowed to operate anonymously by covering their faces and failing to wear an identification badge. We do not allow CPD officers to operate anonymously in our communities, and we should not permit federal agents to do so either. Allowing federal agents to act with impunity endangers the people of Cook County. Thank you for your time and consideration."

Indivisible Action: What’s the Plan? Discussion with Indivisible’s Co-Founders TODAY
The onslaught of news, the chaos coming out of the White House – it’s all meant to overwhelm us. It’s a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and make us believe we are powerless to fight back.
The antidote: Coming together in community to process what’s happening, to sift through what’s important and what’s just noise, and coalesce around strategies for fighting back.
Join Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin each week, as we carve out an hour to discuss what’s happening and – more importantly – what’s the plan.
👉 Join the weekly call Thursdays at 2 p.m. CT.
