Tuesday, August 19 - Tell Congress: Block the Bombs / Benefit Concert 9/7 / Indivisible Evanston Community Resistance Meeting 9/16

Partner Action: TOMORROW - Stop the Trump Takeover

In May, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez introduced the Block the Bombs Bill (HR 3565), to stop the Trump administration from supplying major weapons—bombs, tank rounds, and artillery shells—to Israel, which has used them in its brutal assault on Gaza. Co-sponsors include Illinois Representatives Jonathan Jackson, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia, Danny Davis, and Jan Schakowsky.

However, some Chicago Representatives, such as Robin Kelly, Sean Casten, and Mike Quigley, have not yet signed on as co-sponsors.

👉 Check this list of co-sponsors, and contact your representatives and urge them to support this critical measure to oppose unnecessary violence. Then send an email message here.

Script for co-sponsors (such as Rep. Jonathan Jackson): My name is [FIRST NAME, LAST NAME] and I live in the district in zip code [GIVE ZIP CODE]. Please thank Representative [NAME] for co-sponsoring the Block the Bombs bill. I am very grateful that [HE/SHE] is working to stop the flow of U.S. weapons to the Israeli government. This bill would be an important step to saving lives in Gaza. Please ask [HIM/HER] to talk with fellow Illinois members of Congress to persuade them to support the bill.

For current non-sponsors (such as Rep. Robin Kelly): My name is [FIRST NAME, LAST NAME], and I live in the district in zip code [GIVE ZIP CODE]. I'm calling about the Block the Bombs bill, H.R. 3565. I noticed that Representative [NAME] is not listed as a co-sponsor of the bill. So many people in Gaza are being killed by U.S. weapons. I am urging Representative [NAME] to fight to end arms shipments to the Israeli government. I want to see [HIS/HER name on the list of co-sponsors and I want [HIM/HER] to vote for it.

The event boasts an impressive lineup of artists, including Carpacho Y Su Super Combo, Los Pleneros De Don Segundo, Surabhi Ensemble, and the Afrocolombian Band “Epa!”, who will take the stage alongside Damon Locks. Emcee Luis Tubens will guide the audience through the evening's festivities.
