Tuesday, November 29 - Witness Slips for Menstrual Equality / Georgia Senate Runoff Actions

Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: Witness Slips for Menstrual Equality

HB4218 recognizes that access to menstrual products is integral to health and safety. Here are two challenges people who do not have adequate access to menstrual products face:

  • Medical Consequences: A lack of access to menstrual products can cause physical infection and disease, and can lead to cervical cancer or even death.

  • Safety and Abuse: Incarcerated people rely entirely on correctional staff to meet their medical needs. When correctional officers withhold menstrual products, the people in their custody who menstruate are subject to the humiliation and health concerns caused by lack of access. In America, there have been correctional officers who have used access to menstrual products to coerce women into sex. In other words, they are a tool of rape. Incarcerated people should have full access to menstrual products. Furthermore, they should not face threats of abuse or assault when seeking access to menstrual products and reproductive care.

Support legislation that fosters safety, health, and dignity for all individuals. Fill out a witness slip as a PROPONENT in support of HB4218, providing menstrual products at no cost, as needed in IL state prisons. Sign by Wednesday, November 30!

Witness Slip Instructions:

Action 2: Georgia Senate Runoff Actions

We can help Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock WIN the runoff election against Republican Herschel Walker! Even with the current 50 Democratic Senators, getting this seat would give us 51 -- and a Democratic majority! It will break the tie (and also take the wind out of a certain West Virginian's sails...!).

There's lots we can do from here in IL (or wherever you are), including reaching GA voters by writing postcards, making calls, and sending texts.
