Action 1: Affordable Healthcare Webinar 10/17
In Illinois, we’ve capped insulin co-pays, protected health insurance consumers from unfair premium hikes, and banned the price gouging of generic and off-patent prescription drugs. But still, there's more to do.
At this event, you will hear from some of our legislative champions, Rep. Nabeela Syed and Rep. Jenn Ladisch Douglass, who have led the fight for affordable healthcare and hear their thoughts on the work we have ahead.
We will also be joined by Vincent DeMarco, of Maryland Health Care For All, who was pivotal in the creation of a Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) in Maryland. In addition to introducing a PDAB in Illinois, we will also be discussing the importation of prescription drugs, medicare rate reference pricing, pharmacy benefit manager transparency, and more.
Join the Making Healthcare Affordable in Illinois webinar on Tuesday, October 17 at noon.

Action 2: Combating Hate, On the Rise
A recent report from the Anti-Defamation League shows a range of extremist groups and movements now operating in Illinois. The impact is widespread-- 101 reported hate crimes in Illinois alone, according to the FBI's latest statistics--that targeted a variety of communities, including Jewish, Black, LGBTQ, and Asian American and Pacific Islander. That's an 80% increase since 2020.
Join Indivisible Illinois on October 18 at 7:30pm on Zoom for a discussion about how organizations espousing hate and incidences of crimes involving hate have escalated in Illinois and across the nation.
The panel will include speakers from the Anti-Defamation League and other organizations. They will discuss the history behind this spreading hate in Illinois as well as data showing the trend lines of increasing extremism and hate-fueled violence in the state. They will also discuss recommendations on activities that can help address antisemitism, hate, and extremism while preserving civil liberties.
