Monday, October 9 - Write Letters to Defend Democracy / Ohio VOTE YES Phone Bank

Action You Can Take Today

Action 1: Write Letters to Defend Democracy

What happens IN the states affects the United States. One way to make a difference: write letters to voters!

Join Indivisible Chicago-South Side in Hyde Park to write to Ohio voters, encouraging them to vote to amend the state constitution by enshrining reproductive and abortion rights. We're also writing letters to Virginia voters in advance of their General Assembly elections.

On Wednesday, October 11th and Tuesday, October 24th, from 6:00-8:00 pm, we'll meet inside the Nile restaurant on E. 55th Street in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The Nile is BYOB, so feel free to bring wine or beer. We especially welcome your donations of first-class stamps!

Action 2: Ohio Vote Yes Phone Bank

In August, a resounding majority of Ohio voters said NO to the Republican party's devious sneak attack on abortion rights. Thanks to that vote, Ohioans will have a chance in November to enshrine abortion rights in their state constitution. Phone bankers from Indivisible Chicago helped make it happen.

But our fight is not over. In a last desperate lunge for power, Republicans have conspired to put the matter on the ballot in a deceptively worded and politically loaded summary. After weeks of asking Ohioans to vote No in the August election, we now have to get them to vote YES for the amendment.

Help us get the word out. Our phone banks attract volunteers from coast to coast because we focus on making the work easy and enjoyable for veterans and first-timers alike. We supply extensive background resources, all the training you need, one-on-one tech support, and a group of veteran phone bankers who will welcome you in and share their experiences.

The August vote was a big win for personal freedom and democracy not only for Ohio but for the whole country. Don't let it go to waste. Join the weekly Wednesday phone banks and help finish the job!

While some of these Daily Actions come from our own work as Indivisible Chicago Alliance, others are from our many partners working to advance the progressive agenda. We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
