Thursday, November 14 - Speak Out on CPD Budget Increase / Write Letters of Support to Immigrants

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: TOMORROW - Speak Out Against CPD Budget Increase

This Friday, the Chicago City Council Chamber and the Committee on Budget and Government Operations are meeting to INCREASE the Chicago Police Department’s budget by $78 million dollars with taxpayer dollars. Join us to pack the public comment in opposition to these increases and stop the over-funded CPD from using our funds to commit crimes and atrocities against our communities!

At the same time, the city council meeting plans on discussing the DEPLETION of resources for offices that increase transparency and accountability. We must oppose these cuts and fight for police accountability at every turn!

Come to City hall TOMORROW, Friday, November 15 at 9 a.m. to give a public comment against the budget increase. Enter on Randolph side to sign up for public comment.

Action 2: Write Letters of Support to Immigrants

In the wake of President Trump’s re-election, many in our communities are feeling fear and uncertainty about the future. The endorsement of policies that exclude immigrant families has left many mourning the hope they had for a more inclusive America. Now, more than ever, our immigrant neighbors need our support and encouragement.

We invite you to join us in uplifting those who are struggling by writing letters of encouragement to RAICES immigrant clients—children, parents, and grandparents who need to hear that they are not alone. Your words can provide comfort and remind them that we stand together for dignity, safety, and prosperity.

Let’s show that we are the majority who believe in empowering our neighbors. Together, we can build a movement grounded in compassion and solidarity. More opportunities to make a difference will follow, but this first step can truly help fortify those in need. Write a letter in support of RAICES clients today.

We invite you to join us in supporting their work. Postings from partners do not imply Indivisible Chicago Alliance endorsement of specific policies and positions.
