Monday, November 25 - Strengthen SNAP Benefits / Tell Biden to Certify the ERA

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Strengthen SNAP Benefits

House Republicans are proposing a Farm Bill that could slash $30 billion from SNAP over the next decade, putting millions of families at risk of hunger. In contrast, the Senate version aims to strengthen SNAP, supporting the 41 million people who depend on these benefits for their daily nutrition. Adequately funding SNAP and related food assistance programs is essential not just for reducing hunger, but also for supporting farmers and rural communities, ensuring fairness and protection for SNAP recipients.

With only weeks left in the current Congress, we must raise our voices to demand that legislators reject these harmful cuts. It’s critical that they pass a Farm Bill that protects SNAP benefits, provides support for victims of stolen benefits, and upholds the dignity of families to make their own food choices. Join us in urging Congress to prioritize the health and well-being of our communities by standing firm against any cuts to SNAP. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to the food they need to thrive!

Action 2: Tell Biden to Certify the ERA

Women in the United States still lack guaranteed equal rights, with dire consequences. The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) has been fully ratified since 2020 and just needs one action to be added to the Constitution.

The ERA is vital for protecting against rights rollbacks, empowering the judicial system to tackle sex discrimination, and advancing gender equality. Urge President Biden to instruct the US Archivist to certify and publish the ERA.

Here are five things you can do between now and the end of the year. Take the challenge and do all of them before President Biden’s term ends!

  1. Call the White House Comment Line: 202-456-1111 (Open Tuesday–Thursday from 10:00 am–2:00 pm CT)

  2. Send an email to the White House

  3. Sign the League of Women Voters letter

  4. Contact your US representative and US senators and urge them to pressure President Biden

  5. Share this with your friends!

SAMPLE MESSAGE

I urge President Biden to instruct the US Archivist to certify the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA has met all requirements for ratification. Women’s rights are under attack. The president has the authority to act and must do so with urgency.
