Thursday, August 22nd - Phone Bank for Michigan / Canvass Training / Chicago Fair Elections Ordinance

Actions You Can Take

Action 1: Michigan Monday Phone Bank

Join us in making calls Mondays to voters in the critical battleground state of Michigan. We’re fighting to make sure Michigan’s 15 electoral votes remain a solid piece of the Midwest Blue Wall that will turn back Trump and the MAGA Republicans.

Indivisible Chicago high-impact phone banks attract people from all over the country—volunteers who tell us they appreciate our thorough training, individual attention, and the camaraderie that develops in our Zoom rooms, where we learn from and encourage each other.

We'll give you the training and background you need on the super-easy auto dialer we use to connect callers quickly with voters. And our experienced moderators will stay connected with you throughout the phone bank to answer your questions and troubleshoot any difficulties.

Sign up and we'll send you the Zoom link to connect to the phone bank and background information you'll need to make calls.

Action 2: Canvass Training Tuesday

You know it's true: If we don’t knock thousands of doors this year in Wisconsin and Michigan, Donald Trump will become president for life. But maybe you're hesitant about canvassing. A lot of people are! Or maybe it's been a while and you need a refresher. Either way this live training class is for you.

We show you what to expect; lead you through the process step-by-step; share tips accumulated over years of experience; and answer all your questions and concerns. And we bring friends from Chicago improv companies to add a little fun and a lot of communication savvy. Even if you're a nervous newbie, we can turn you into a cool, confident door-knocker, ready to do the Work That Must Be Done. Sign up and let us prove it!

Join the Canvass Training hosted by Indivisible Lincoln Square on Tuesday, August 27th at 5:30 p.m. at Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N Lincoln Ave.

Action 3: Chicago Fair Elections Ordinance

For too long, big-money donors and special interest groups have dominated Chicago politics. Chicagoans deserve a government that represents everyone - but ordinary people are often barred from running for office because they cannot afford to keep up with big spenders.

By amplifying small-dollar donations with public funding, the Fair Elections Ordinance will give grassroots candidates a fairer chance at running for office, give back power to the working class, and limit the influence of big-money donors.

Other large cities in the United States, like New York and Los Angeles, have empowered ordinary people through similar public financing programs. It's time that Chicago step up and do the same.

Contact your alderperson today to ask them to support this ordinance!
