Community Action: Support Disclosure Ordinance

We are trying to get companies that contract with the city of Chicago to be transparent if they are profiting from immigration enforcement. In that regard, the Immigration Enforcement Disclosure Ordinance (2025-21035), is officially on the agenda for the City Council's Committee on Contracting Oversight and Equity on Tuesday, September 22. If it passes committee, it will go before the full City Council the very next day, Wednesday, September 23.

👉 Tell your alderperson to support this disclosure ordinance. Find your Alder's name and phone number here.

Suggested script: "Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent living at [ADDRESS or just cross streets].

I'm calling about Ordinance 2025-21035, the Immigration Enforcement Disclosure Ordinance. It's on the agenda for the Committee on Contracting Oversight and Equity on Tuesday, September 22 and if it passes committee will go before the full Council on Wednesday, September 23rd.

This ordinance is very important and overdue. It requires companies that contract with the City to disclose whether they've also worked with ICE or Border Patrol. It is not a ban, it does not cancel any contract, it just requires transparency — and it holds contractors accountable if they don't comply. City residents deserve a city council that fights for transparency and accountability.

Can I count on Alder [NAME] to vote YES if this comes to the floor?

[Pause for answer, then, if needed:] Can you let the Alder know a constituent called in support and asked for a yes vote?"

Community Action: Inspiring Young Voters 9/9

Volunteer Blue welcomes John Della Volpe, Director of Polling at the Harvard Kennedy School's Institute of Politics for a 30-minute Zoom discussion on engaging young voters and inspiring them to vote for Democrats in the fall.

Della Volpe will share his research on millennials and Gen Z voters, and discuss connecting core issues to youth priorities to encourage them to become invested in election outcomes.

Because of his knowledge about the political views of young voters, he was an advisor to Joe Biden’s successful 2020 election campaign and is the author of Fight: How Gen Z is Channeling Their Fear and Passion to Save America. He is a contributor to the New York Times, NBC, and MSNOW, as well as an Eisenhower Fellow. His work explores the intersection of public opinion, media, and democracy.

Join us to hear about:

  • Matching campaign messaging with youth priorities

  • Keeping younger generations engaged in elections

  • How volunteers can mobilize this critical group
