Partner Action: Chicago May Day Actions 5/1

With one week until May Day, a broad coalition of organizations across Chicago is mobilizing for a week of action focused on workers’ rights, immigrant justice, and defending the rule of law. This is a coordinated call to show up across multiple actions on May 1 as communities push back against attacks on labor, immigration, and democratic institutions.

We are standing in solidarity with workers and immigrants, and demanding an end to policies that prioritize corporate profit over people. From economic justice to legal accountability, May Day is a day to take collective action across movements.

Join the Indivisible Chicago Alliance in showing up for the following actions:

👉 Chicago May Day Rally & March: Friday, May 1 at 1:00 PM
📍 Union Park (1501 W Randolph St)
A citywide rally and march bringing together workers, immigrants, and community members to demand economic justice and dignity for all.

👉 No to ICE Profiteers Rally: Friday, May 1 at 10:00 AM
📍 Highlands REIT Headquarters, 1 S. Dearborn
Join ARISE Chicago, Indivisible Chicago, and Evanston Interfaith Clergy and Leaders for a rally calling out corporate profiteering from immigration detention and demanding an end to the monetization of incarceration.

👉 Chicago Stands for the Rule of Law: Friday, May 1 at 11:30 AM
📍 Federal Plaza (210 S Dearborn St)
Join Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Indivisible Chicago, law professionals, and community members to reaffirm the rule of law, including oath re-administration and public commitment to justice and democracy.

Community Action: ICE Under Watch Film Screening & Panel 5/3

Join community organizations, filmmakers, and advocates for a screening and panel discussion on the impact of ICE enforcement in Chicago and the power of storytelling, organizing, and solidarity in response. Moderated by State Senator Celina Villanueva, the event will feature short films from local filmmakers highlighting real stories from those directly impacted, followed by a conversation on how communities can take action.

Audience members will have the opportunity to connect with local organizations, including Indivisible Chicago, and learn more about strategic, community-centered responses to escalating ICE enforcement.

Partner Action: Support HB 4758 for Fair Job Access

Many Illinois job applications still require a driver’s license — even when driving isn’t part of the job. HB 4758 would change that by preventing unnecessary license requirements, helping expand access to jobs for people with disabilities, formerly incarcerated individuals, and others who rely on public transit.

Led by Rep. Gregg Johnson and Sen. Christopher Belt, this bill could open employment opportunities for nearly 2 million Illinoisans.

👉 Email your State Senator and urge them to support HB 4758.
