Wednesday, July 30 - Two Actions to Support Pretrial Justice / Power to the Period 8/5 / Building Partnerships and Coalitions 8/18

Partner Action: Medicare & Medicaid 60th Anniversary Rally TOMORROW

Thanks to you, Illinois continues to be a national leader in pretrial justice. During this year's legislative session, Illinois legislators took action to create a statewide office of public defense and expanded access to mental health care, substance use treatment, case management, transportation, and more for people awaiting trial. This was made possible by people like you, who reached out to legislators and called on them to act.

We're now calling on you to take action again. Join us in thanking your elected officials for voting in support of the FAIR Act and including the Pretrial Success Grant Program in the state budget. While it may seem small, it so important that we follow up these bold actions with a thank you to affirm that our legislators did the right thing.

πŸ‘‰ Quickly send a note to your legislators:

Partner Action: Power to the Period Event 8/5

She Votes Illinois invites you to a important conversation about menstrual equity in our schools. As students return to classrooms this fall, we’re shining a light on how we can turn policy into practice and ensure no student is held back due to lack of access to menstrual products.

Illinois law (HB156) requires public schools to provide free menstrual products, but too often, those products are unavailable, inaccessible, or inconsistently stocked. It’s time to change that.

Part of our She Votes Policy Series, this virtual event brings together students, parents, educators, legal experts, and policymakers to discuss how school communities can make menstrual equity real.

πŸ‘‰ Join the event on Tuesday, August 5 from 6 - 7pm.
