Actions You Can Take Today

Action 1: TONIGHT - Vote By Mail Taskforce

Join the Vote by Mail Taskforce TONIGHT, Monday, May 2, at 7 pm to hear from four people on the front lines of the emerging war against elections and election workers. Politico recently named Green Bay, WI, "Ground Zero" for election conspiracy theories, threats to election workers, and threats to holding a free and fair election.

Our four guests have all experienced these threats in one form or another: Amaad Rivera, chief of staff to Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich, who is subject to a recall petition linked to election conspiracies; Terry Lee, a Green Bay poll worker and chair of the Democratic Party of Brown County; Renee Gasch, also a Green Bay poll worker and former chair of the Democratic Party of Brown County; and Wisconsin State Senator Kristina Shelton, whose district includes Green Bay and who also worked as a poll worker in April.

How did Green Bay become Ground Zero? In 2020, the city council, which appoints the city clerk and approves polling sites, agreed to accept private donations from the Center for Tech and Civic Life to help pay the bills for the 2020 election. The Center for Tech and Civic Life is a nonprofit backed in large part by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. That link to a group funded by Zuckerberg caused Republicans, including the former city clerk, to attack the legitimacy of how elections are run in the city. Now, not only are election workers experiencing threats, but at the city's recent April 5 election, police were needed to protect ballot-counting sites.

If you're concerned about how elections anywhere in this country can be conducted under these kinds of conditions, you won't want to miss this meeting. RSVP here.
