Action 1: Stop the Laken Riley Act

The Senate is schedule to take up the Laken Riley Act (S.5) this morning and we need to put pressure on Senator Tammy Duckworth to vote no. This dangerous bill would impose mandatory detention on certain noncitizens, including undocumented individuals and DACA recipients, for minor offenses like shoplifting—even if they're never charged with a crime.

It also would give frightening new powers to state attorneys general (including in states with anti-immigrant agendas) to set immigration policies, while eroding our nation’s core principles of justice, fairness, and equality.

We must act now! Call our Illinois senators and urge them to reject this harmful legislation that undermines the Constitution and threatens our immigration system. Your voice matters—let’s make it heard!

Action 2: Stop the Trump Agenda Rally 1/20

Instead of watching Trump take the oath of office Monday, wouldn’t it feel better to protest?

On Monday, January 20th, Indivisible Chicago-South Side and Indivisible Chicago Alliance will be joining the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR) and other groups for a rally to Stop the Trump Agenda.

While January 20th is Inauguration Day, it is also the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. In Dr. King's honor, we must stand together to oppose the oppression and greed of the incoming MAGA regime.
